Why airfares keep inching up

When it comes to airfare this year, what goes up doesn't usually come down. US airlines have attempted 11 price increases this year — more than in the previous two years combined — seven of which have stuck. As a result, round-trip tickets are up 7 percent this month over April 2010, to $381 on average nationwide, according to Hotwire.com.
